Welcome
Welcome to the official site of HCCSN (How Can Cycling Shrink Northumberland)During these two weeks we have experienced a project called “How can cycling help us shrink Northumberland?”. A project created by Cramlington Learning Village For this project we used bikes to travel, using only cycle paths and off road routes, to local points of interest. The project has been about reducing Co2 created by cars and encouraging healthier lifestyle habits.
Throughout this project we have cycled to famous landmarks and learnt about their past. Some of these landmarks were: Northumberlandia, Blyth Battery, East Cramlington Colliery and Segedunum in Wallsend. Many of the people in our class who took part in the activities thought that it was very enjoyable to learn outside in the fresh air about the history and geography of where we live. One of the highlights was the journey to Blyth Battery then Seaton Sluice - here we ate fish and chips!
Here are some of the thoughts that our classmates had:
Thomas Cotton -“It was a great experience and I may do this outside of school hours.”
Thomas Ralph -“It has been exiting to improve and test our leg muscles on the bike rides.”
Chris Gould -“The cycling was enjoyable because we travelled through many different terrains which I had not been through before.”
Sam Harper-Coulson-“I enjoyed this project as it was a balance of fun and learning.”
Ben Rider-“It got me back into cycling because it showed me the fun side of cycling.”
Enjoy Your Stay....
